Tipu Sultan Restaurant

Recently visited this restaurant for a work dinner. This place has impressive interiors and is quite big. It’s also divided in sections which helps you feel cozy inspite of the restaurant being big. They have a fancy waiting area. The service was very good. Food wise the starters were amazing but the main course was a bit of a let down. The deserts on the other hand were absolutely amazing. Would love to visit this place again.

I've had a great experience at Tipu Sultan's Birmingham branch, so I was excited to try the Leicester branch. I'm happy to say it lived up to expectations! The decor and overall setup were amazing, creating a fantastic atmosphere. I highly recommend pre-booking, as it can get very busy. Parking is plentiful at the back, and the staff at reception were welcoming and efficient. We were seated promptly with no waiting. The drinks menu offers good non-alcoholic options, although I was disappointed to find no branded cola (no Coke or Pepsi). However, the other drinks were enjoyable. The food was exceptional, with a vast variety of traditional Indian dishes that were both delicious and generous in portion size. The service was top-notch. Overall, I'd definitely recommend this place and look forward to visiting again. If you're looking for authentic Indian cuisine in a lovely setting, Tipu Sultan in Leicester is a great choice.

I tasted their chicken biryani and nihari it was abseloutely amazing , cooked to perfection. It was tasty , delicious and well flavoured and i felt like i was at home in Pakistan my 2nd home having biryani sitting outside. Feedback is to add bit more meat to nihari on the bone I would highly recommend Tipu Sultan

We recently hosted my engagement party at Tipu Sultan Leicester and I feel obliged to write a review regarding our experience. From the very start during the planning stage, till the very end of our event, the manager and staff at Tipu sultan were outstandingly accommodating and pleasant to work with. They listened to our needs and requests, were always on standby, and allowed us to have the most enjoyable and stress free afternoon which exceeded all expectations. The starters had arrived merely 20 minutes after everyone had arrived and settled, and shortly after the mains arrived as well. All items were hot, fresh, and tasted delicious. It is obvious that the food is prepared with a lot of love, care, and is uniquely authentic. The interior design of the restaurant itself is breathtakingly beautiful, and the atmosphere was lively and pleasant. The only thing we would say is that the women’s bathroom could be maintained a little better. Other than that we had an amazing time hosting our engagement at Tipu Sultan, and we would definitely visit again in the future. I highly recommend this restaurant to host events, or even if you are just wanting a meal out.

I had a great experience at this restaurant. The food was delicious, beautifully presented, and the service was friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was warm and inviting, making it a nice place to relax and enjoy a meal. The only reason I didn’t give five stars is that the main dish was a bit too spicy for my taste. Other than that, everything was excellent, and I’d definitely come back!

Visited Tipu Sultan in Oadby on 28th October 2025 and had a really lovely overall experience. The vibe was great — warm, welcoming, and lively — and the decor is absolutely stunning. From the outside, you’d never guess how huge the restaurant actually is. It’s beautifully designed inside, giving it a grand and elegant feel. We ordered a mix of vegetarian and non-vegetarian dishes. I’m vegetarian and gluten-free, and I was really impressed with how well they catered to dietary requirements — there were plenty of gluten-free options and a good variety of vegetarian dishes to choose from. Everything we ordered was full of flavour and beautifully presented. The food tasted fresh and delicious, and the portion sizes were generous too. The only downside was that we noticed some old rice mixed in with the fresh rice. It was disappointing, but the staff handled it really well — they immediately apologised, took the dish away, and removed it from the bill without any fuss. Mistakes happen, and it’s how they deal with them that really counts, so I appreciated the professionalism. The service was excellent — 10/10. The staff were friendly, attentive, and made sure we were well looked after throughout our meal. Overall, a fantastic dining experience with great food, great service, and a lovely atmosphere. I’d definitely visit again and recommend it to others — especially for anyone looking for a restaurant that offers both vegetarian and gluten-free options without compromising on taste or quality.
